| In accordance with its Order of Reference of Wednesday, June 22, 2022, your Committee has considered Bill C-228, An Act to amend the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Pension Benefits Standards Act, 1985, and agreed on Monday, October 31, 2022, to report it with the following amendments: New Clause 4.1 That Bill C-228 be amended by adding after line 16 on page 3 the following new clause: “4.1 Subsection 136(1) of the Act is amended by adding the following after paragraph (d): (d.001) the amount of any termination or severance pay owed to a clerk, servant, travelling salesperson, labourer or worker by a bankrupt under an Act of Parliament or of the legislature of a province or under a collective bargaining agreement less any amount previously paid by the trustee for that termination or severance pay;” Clause 6 Clause 6 is deleted. Clause 7 Clause 7 is deleted. Clause 9 That Bill C-228, in Clause 9, be amended (a) by replacing line 20 on page 5 with the following: “the fourth anniversary of the day on which this Act” (b) by replacing line 26 on page 5 with the following: “benefit of its employees until the fourth anniver‐ ” |
