The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 9, 2019, regarding the study of the temporary use in Canada, by Canadians, of American-plated vehicles be rescinded and replaced with the following motion:

That the Committee undertake a study on allowing Canadians to bring their legally owned, American-registered and plated passenger vehicles into Canada for a defined temporary period, in the same manner that American citizens may do in Canada, without having to pay any taxes, duties or importation fees; that a one-hour meeting be dedicated to this study; and that the Committee receive an update from the Government of Canada with respect to undertaking a system that allows for the temporary use of American-plated vehicles by Canadian citizens.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 11, 2019, the Committee resumed its study of the subject matter of Clauses 225 to 279 (Part 4, Divisions 11 and 12) of Bill C-97.

Bruce Burrows, Robert Turner, Robert Lewis-Manning, Michael Broad, Sean Griffiths and Simon Pelletier made statements and, with Sonia Simard and Michael Burgess, answered questions.

At 12:52 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:54 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That each party submit their prioritized witness lists, including contact information, for the study of an update on the National Trade Corridors Fund initiative, to the Clerk of the Committee before end of day on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 1, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of bus passenger safety.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.

It was agreed, — That each party submit their recommendations for the report on the study of bus passenger safety, to the Clerk of the Committee, by end of day Thursday, May 9, 2019.

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
