Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, September 27, 2017, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-58, Act to amend the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

Cara Zwibel, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, Duff Conacher and Gordon McIntosh made statements and answered questions.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Peter Di Gangi and Heather Scoffield made statements and answered questions.

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:23 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted on Monday, October 16, 2017, the Committee schedule be as follows: Monday, October 30, and Wednesday, November 1, 2017: testimony relating to Bill C-58; Monday, November 6, and Wednesday, November 8, 2017: clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-58; Monday, November 20, 2017: consideration of a draft report for the study on the Privacy of Canadians at Airports, Borders and Travelling in the United States; and Wednesday, November 22, 2017: instructions to the analysts regarding a draft report for the study on the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
