A meeting of the Board of Internal Economy of the House of Commons was held on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:10 a.m., in Room 112-N, Centre Block.

Tabling of Minutes

The minutes of the meeting of April 30, 2012 were approved for tabling .

Minutes of Previous Meeting

The minutes of the meeting of May 28, 2012 were adopted.

Commemorative Statues

Further to the meeting of May 28, 2012 regarding the letter of the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages , the Board took note of the additional information regarding the commemorative statues, and requested that a letter be sent to the Minister informing him of the Board's viewpoint on such matters.

Work Force Adjustment Policy

The Board approved the Work Force Adjustment Policy and its subsequent implementation for the employees of the House Administration.

Conferences

The Board approved that the 40th Annual Session of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie be held in Ottawa in July 2014. The Board also approved temporary funding of $60,000 for fiscal year 2013-2014 and $315,000 for fiscal year 2014-2015 for a total of $375,000 which would be shared using the usual formula between the Senate (30%, i.e., $112,500) and the House of Commons (70%, i.e., $262,500), and to be sought in the Main Estimates for the respective years; and that any unspent approved funding from fiscal year 2013-2014 be carried-over to fiscal year 2014-2015 and, if needed, any additional funding be requested and approved separately.

The Board approved that the 11th Conference of Parliamentarian of the Arctic Region be held either in Yellowknife or Whitehorse in October 2014.  The Board also approved temporary funding of $50,000 for fiscal year 2013-2014 and $235,309 for fiscal year 2014-2015 for a total of $285,309 which would be shared using the usual formula between the Senate (30%, i.e., $85,593) and the House of Commons (70%, i.e., $199,716), and to be sought in the Main Estimates for the respective years; and that any unspent approved funding from fiscal year 2013-2014 be carried-over to fiscal year 2014-2015 and, if needed, any additional funding be requested and approved separately.

Request for Exception

The Board approved an exception to the policy which limits the reimbursement for printing and distribution services to a maximum of 4,500 copies.
