The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Robert Aubin, Olivia Chow, Hon. Denis Coderre, Ed Holder, Larry Miller, Isabelle Morin, Pierre Poilievre, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Rick Dykstra for Joe Daniel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Blueprint Energy Inc.: Greg Tarasco, President and Chief Executive Officer. Invotronics Inc.: Earl Hughson, President and Chief Executive Officer. HD-Petroleum Inc.: Todd Habicht, President and Chief Executive Officer; Jack Winram, Vice-President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 26, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Innovative Transportation Technologies.
 

Greg Tarasco, Earl Hughson and Todd Habicht made statements and, with Jack Winram, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Innovative Transportation Technologies, the proposed additional budget in the amount of $6,000 be adopted.

 

Olivia Chow moved, — That the Transport Committee conduct a short study of the recent Via Rail service cuts and the practice of rail abandonment have on the future of passengers services in Canada, especially in rural and remote areas; and that the Committee report this motion to the House.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division: YEAS: Robert Aubin, Olivia Chow, Denis Coderre, Isabelle Morin, Mike Sullivan — 5; NAYS: Mark Adler, Rick Dykstra, Ed Holder, Pierre Poilievre, Lawrence Toet, Jeff Watson — 6.

 

At 12:47 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
