The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in camera at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair, the Hon. Mauril Bélanger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Royal Galipeau, Bernard Généreux, Yvon Godin, Monique Guay, Guy Lauzon, Brian Murphy, Richard Nadeau, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon, Greg Rickford and Lise Zarac.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst; Nicolas Auclair, Analyst. House of Commons: Miriam Burke, Procedural Clerk.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of the study of immigration as a development tool in official language minority communities.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Recruitment, Intake and Integration: What Does the Future Hold for Immigration to Official Language Minority Communities?".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That any member of the Committee be entitled to submit a dissenting or supplementary opinion to any Committee report in accordance to the Standing Orders of the House, provided that it is no more than five (5) pages in length and submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk in the 48 hours following the adoption of a report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair and the analyst, issue a news release to announce the presentation of the Committee's report.

 

At 9:21 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
