The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Johanne Deschamps, Peter Goldring, James Lunney, Deepak Obhrai, Bernard Patry, Glen Douglas Pearson and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: André Bellavance for Jean Dorion, Hon. Gerry Byrne for Hon. Bob Rae, John Rafferty for Paul Dewar and Mike Wallace for Deepak Obhrai.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Elissa Golberg, Director General, Stabilization and Reconstruction Task Force Secretariat; Neil Reeder, Director General, Latin America and Caribbean; Patricia Fortier, Director General, Consular Operations Bureau; Jean-Benoît Leblanc, Director, Trade Negotiations 2 Division. Canadian International Development Agency: Leslie E. Norton, Director General, International Humanitarian Assistance Directorate, Multilateral and Global Programs Branch; Isabelle Bérard, Director General, Haiti and Dominican Republic; Lise Filiatrault, Regional Director General, Americas Directorate.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, December 2, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Canadian and international disaster response and the situation in Haiti.
 

Elissa Golberg and Leslie E. Norton made statements and, with Isabelle Bérard, Neil Reeder and Lise Filiatrault, answered questions.

 

At 4:53 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:56 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee met to discuss the situation in Honduras.
 

Neil Reeder made a statement and, with Jean-Benoit Leblanc, answered questions.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
