The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met in camera at 11:14 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Colin Mayes, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Steven Blaney, Rod Bruinooge, Jean Crowder, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, Colin Mayes, Hon. Anita Neville and Brian Storseth.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett for Todd Norman Russell and Brian Murphy for Hon. Larry Bagnell.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to its study of housing, the committee proceed with Option One in the Summary Planning Document and prepare a draft motion as a report.

 

It was agreed, — That the committee consider the draft report on housing on March 22, 2007.

 

It was agreed, — That the committee invite the Minister of Canadian Heritage and the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs to appear on March 20, 2007, with their respective Deputy Ministers, in relation to the committee’s study of Supplementary Estimates (B).

 

It was agreed, — That a steering committee meeting be held the week of March 19 – 23, 2007, to discuss the committee’s study of Bill C-44.

 

It was agreed, — That the clerk invite preliminary witnesses on Bill C-44 from the basic witness list.

 

It was agreed, — That the committee commence its study of child welfare after its study of Bill C-44.

 

It was agreed, — That amendments to Bill C-44 be submitted to the Clerk of the Committee 48 hours prior to clause by clause consideration.

 

At 12:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
