Monday, March 17, 2003

The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Vice-Chair, Tony Valeri, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Paul Forseth, Robert Lanctôt, Judy Sgro, Paul Szabo and Tony Valeri.

Acting Member present: Peter Stoffer for Pat Martin.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament:  Jack Stilborn, Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Privy Council Office: Ronald Bilodeau, Associate Secretary to the Cabinet, Deputy Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister, and Security and Intelligence Coordinator; Ann Marie Sahagian, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services. Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee resumed its study of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003, referred to the Committee on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 (See Minutes of Proceedings of Monday, March 17, 2003)

The Vice-Chair called Vote 1b under Privy Council.

Ronald Bilodeau and Stuart MacKinnon each made an opening statement and answered questions.

David Kinsman made an opening statement and with Jean Laporte answered questions.

Yvon Tarte made an opening statement and answered questions.

David McGuinty made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 4:40 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:45 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Alan Leadbeater made an opening statement and answered questions.

Ken Epp served notice of motion – That the Office of the Information Commissioner be required to provide to the Committee any and all information required by the Committee to justify the new appropriation in the Supplementary Estimates (B) in the amount of $311,000.

At 5:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.
