PRIVATE MEMBERS' BUSINESS

At 11:12 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(7), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

Mr. Bigras (Rosemont -- Petite-Patrie), seconded by Ms. Picard (Drummond), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should show leadership on the international stage: (a) by taking action designed to increase the number of signatory countries to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction; (b) by signing bilateral treaties that include commitments to respect custody and access orders as originally handed down by the courts; and (c) by taking the necessary steps within its own borders to combat international child abduction. (Private Members' Business M-219)

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Order 93, the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

Notice having been given at a previous sitting under the provisions of Standing Order 78(3), Mr. Boudria (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), seconded Mr. Gagliano (Minister of Public Works and Government Services), moved, -- That, in relation to Bill C-7, An Act in respect of criminal justice for young persons and to amend and repeal other Acts, not more than one further sitting day shall be allotted to the consideration of the second reading stage of the Bill; and

That, fifteen minutes before the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders on the day allotted to the consideration of the second reading stage of the said Bill, any proceedings before the House shall be interrupted, if required for the purpose of this Order, and in turn every question necessary for the disposal of the stage of the Bill then under consideration shall be put forthwith and successively without further debate or amendment.
