Whereupon, Mr. Kilger (Stormont -- Dundas -- Charlottenburgh), Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees of the Whole, took the Chair, pursuant to subsection 43(1) of the Parliament of Canada Act.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Finance of Bill C-13, An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act.

Ms. Robillard (President of the Treasury Board) for Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Boudria (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Finance.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Hanger (Calgary Northeast), seconded by Mr. Sorenson (Crowfoot), Bill C-291, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (violent crimes), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. Meredith (South Surrey -- White Rock -- Langley), seconded by Mr. Duncan (Vancouver Island North), Bill C-292, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (selling wildlife), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Mr. Martin (Winnipeg Centre), seconded by Ms. Lill (Dartmouth), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should eliminate the Right of Landing Fee (ROLF) on all classes of immigrants to Canada. (Private Members' Business M-231)
