ADDRESS IN REPLY TO THE SPEECH FROM THE THRONE

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Macklin (Northumberland), seconded by Ms. Allard (Laval East), -- That the following Address be presented to Her Excellency the Governor General:

        To Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Chancellor and Principal Companion of the Order of Canada, Chancellor and Commander of the Order of Military Merit, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada.
      MAY IT PLEASE YOUR EXCELLENCY:
        We, Her Majesty's most loyal and dutiful subjects, the House of Commons of Canada, in Parliament assembled, beg leave to offer our humble thanks to Your Excellency for the gracious Speech which Your Excellency has addressed to both Houses of Parliament.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Hill (Prince George -- Peace River), seconded by Mr. Harris (Prince George -- Bulkley Valley), Bill C-255, An Act to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (trafficking in a controlled drug or substance within five hundred metres of an elementary school or a high school), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. MacKay (Pictou -- Antigonish -- Guysborough), seconded by Mr. Clark (Calgary Centre), Bill C-256, An Act to amend the Young Offenders Act and to amend certain other Acts in consequence thereof, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. MacKay (Pictou -- Antigonish -- Guysborough), seconded by Mr. Clark (Calgary Centre), Bill C-257, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (attempting to disarm a peace officer), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Hill (Prince George -- Peace River), seconded by Mr. Harris (Prince George -- Bulkley Valley), Bill C-258, An Act to amend the Witness Protection Program Act and to make a related and consequential amendment to another Act (protection of spouses whose life is in danger), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.
