The Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:49 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Wendy Lill and John Maloney.
Acting Members present: Paul Crête for Robert Lanctôt, Keith Martin for Reed Elley.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Bill Young, researcher.
Appearing: From the Department of Human Resources Development Canada: The Hon. Jane Stewart, Minister of Human Resources Development; The Hon. Ethel Blondin-Andrew, Secretary of State (Children and Youth).
Witnesses: From the Department of Human Resources Development Canada: Margaret Biggs, Assistant Deputy Minister, Nationally Delivered Programs Branch; Deborah Tunis, Director, Social Policy Development.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) Study of the matters relating to the proposing, promoting, monitoring and assessing of initiatives aimed at the integration and equality of disabled persons in all sectors of Canadian Society.
At 11:52 a.m., Minister Stewart and Secretary of State Blondin-Andrew each made statements and, with the witnesses, answered questions.
At 12:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
