Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Gagliano (Minister of Labour and Deputy Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) for Mr. Gray (Solicitor General of Canada), seconded by Mr. Massé (President of the Treasury Board), Bill C–13, An Act to provide for the establishment and operation of a program to enable certain persons to receive protection in relation to certain inquiries, investigations or prosecutions, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to provide for the establishment and operation of a program to enable certain persons to receive protection in relation to certain inquiries, investigations or prosecutions”.

Pursuant to Order made Monday, March 4, 1996, the Bill (previously Bill C–78, 1st Session, 35th Parliament) was deemed to have been read the second time, considered by the Standing Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs, reported with amendments and concurred in at report stage.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Gagliano (Minister of Labour and Deputy Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) for Mr. Anderson (Minister of Transport), seconded by Mr. Massé (President of the Treasury Board), Bill C–14, An Act to continue the National Transportation Agency as the Canadian Transportation Agency, to consolidate and revise the National Transportation Act, 1987 and the Railway Act and to amend or repeal other Acts as a consequence, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Order made Monday, March 4, 1996, the Bill (previously Bill C–101, 1st Session, 35th Parliament) was deemed to have been referred to the Standing Committee on Transport before second reading and reported with amendments.
