The subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to subcommittee business.

The clerk gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on International Trade to prepare a detailed budget in relation to its travel proposal for its study of trade opportunities for Canadian businesses in the Indo-Pacific.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration to prepare a detailed budget, not exceeding $175,000, in relation to its travel proposal for its study of application backlogs and processing times.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development to prepare a detailed budget, including a maximum of seven members participating, along with the necessary staff, in relation to its study of the situation at the Russia-Ukraine border and the implications for peace and security.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans to prepare a detailed budget, including a maximum of seven members participating, along with the necessary staff, in relation to its travel proposal for its study of population sustainability of Pacific salmon stocks.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs to prepare a detailed budget, not exceeding $180,000, in relation to its travel proposal for its study of Arctic sovereignty, security and emergency preparedness of Indigenous Peoples.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights to prepare a detailed budget, not exceeding $150,000, in relation to its travel proposal for its study of available international mechanisms to hold State parties and others accountable for international atrocity crimes.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Official Languages to prepare a detailed budget in relation to its travel proposal for its comparative study of language regimes in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Ireland to inform the management of linguistic minority communities.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on National Defence to prepare a detailed budget in relation to its travel proposal for its study of threat analysis affecting Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces’ operational readiness to meet those threats and its future study of cybersecurity and cyberwarfare.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates to prepare a detailed budget in relation to its travel proposal for its study of the National Shipbuilding Strategy.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development to prepare a detailed budget, including a maximum of seven members participating, along with the necessary staff, in relation to its travel proposal for its study of violations of human rights driving migration in Central and South America.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Science and Research to prepare a detailed budget in relation to its travel proposal for its study of big science in Canada.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee invite the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities to prepare a detailed budget in relation to its travel proposal for its study of large port infrastructure expansion projects in Canada.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted on June 10, 2022, detailed travel budgets be submitted to the subcommittee, via its clerk, no later than December 2, 2022.
