The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Rob Moore moved, — Given that, the insufficient number of judges Canada has and its important impact it has on the judicial system, the committee calls the Minister of Justice, Hon. Arif Virani for one meeting.

Debate arose thereon.

After debate, the Chair rule the motion out of order or as the motion nearly identical to a motion defeated on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Rob Moore moved, — That the Chair ruling be sustained.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee resumed its study of the proposals for the 2023 Corrective Act.

Riri Chen, Shawna Noseworthy, Julie McAteer, Sandro Giammaria and Philippe Deneault answered questions.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed — That the committee report to the House that clauses 13, 33, 34 and 35 should not be included in the Bill.

At 12:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
