Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, the committee resumed its study of study of inflation in the current Canadian economy.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

The Chair presented the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows:

Your subcommittee met on Thursday, March 24, 2022, to consider the business of the committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

That, with respect to the Study on Inflation in the Current Canadian Economy:

  1. The committee invite witnesses to appear on Monday, March 28, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Monday, April 4, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.;
  2. The committee reinvite the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance to appear on Thursday, March 31, 2022, or invite Statistics Canada if the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance is not available on this date;

That, with respect to the Study on the Invocation of the Emergency Act and Related Measures:

  1. The committee study a draft report on Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and hold a subcommittee meeting to discuss future business of the committee from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.;

That, once the Budget Implementation Act is presented in the House, the committee start a pre-study on the Bill.

That, if the Federal Budget is presented during a regular committee meeting time, the subcommittee agreed to cancel the committee meeting that day.

It was agreed, - That the Second Report from the subcommittee be modified by deleting "That, once the Budget Implementation Act is presented in the House, the committee start a pre-study on the Bill" and that this be discussed at the next meeting of the subcommittee on April 7, 2022.

It was agreed, — That the Second Report from the subcommittee, as amended, be concurred in.
