Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, the committee resumed its study of the current situation in federal prisons in relation to Correctional Service Canada’s response to COVID-19, the implementation and operation of structured intervention units and reports of sexual coercion and violence in federal prisons.

Anthony N. Doob, Jane Sprott, Catherine Latimer, Jeff Wilkins and Emilie Coyle answered questions.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:39 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 4:40 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.

Anne Kelly made a statement.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:22 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee publish a statement in relation to the appearance of the National Council of Canadian Muslims and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs in relation to the committee’s study on Ideologically Motivated Violent Extremism.

At 5:47 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
