Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, March 6, 2017, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-23, An Act respecting the preclearance of persons and goods in Canada and the United States.

Andrea van Vugt made a statement and, with Joshua Paterson, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, and Meghan McDermott, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, answered questions.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed in a televised session.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2017-18: Votes 1 and 5 under Canada Border Services Agency, Vote 1 under Canadian Security Intelligence Service, Vote 1 under Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Votes 1 and 5 under Correctional Service of Canada, Votes 1 and 5 under Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Vote 1 under Office of the Correctional Investigator of Canada, Vote 1 under Parole Board of Canada, Votes 1, 5 and 10 under Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Vote 1 under Royal Canadian Mounted Police External Review Committee and Vote 1 under Security Intelligence Review Committee, referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 23, 2017.

The Chair called Vote 1 under Canada Border Services Agency.

The Minister made a statement and, with Malcolm Brown, answered questions.

On motion of Matthew Dubé, it was agreed, — That the Subcommittee examine the possibility of further committee meetings to study both the Main Estimates and the Supplementary Estimates (A).

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
