The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Analyst prepare a summary of evidence in relation to the study of the question of privilege regarding the free movement of Members of Parliament within the Parliamentary Precinct, to be considered on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

It was agreed, — That the Committee prioritize its business as follows:

  1. Study of the question of privilege regarding the free movement of Members of Parliament within the Parliamentary Precinct;
  2. Review of the Standing Orders, procedure and practice;
  3. Study of political financing;
  4. Study of the Chief Electoral Officer’s report entitled "An Electoral Framework for the 21st Century: Recommendations from the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Following the 42nd General Election"; and
  5. Briefing on the Parliamentary Protective Service.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the review of the Standing Orders, procedure and practice, the Clerk inquire into the availability of the Hon. Bardish Chagger, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, to appear before the Committee for one hour prior to the House adjourning for the summer.

At 12:17 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, May 3, 2017, the Committee resumed consideration of the question of privilege regarding the free movement of Members of Parliament within the Parliamentary Precinct.

Supt Mike O'Beirne made a statement and, with Robert Graham, answered questions.

At 1:11 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
