The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the Second Report of the Committee entitled "Chapter 6, Nutrition North Canada – Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, of the Fall 2014 Report of the Auditor General of Canada", the Committee write to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development to request clarifications on the reasons for which two (2) of the five (5) compliance reports were inconclusive, and clarifications on the type of further investigation the Department will undertake to ensure that recipients evaluated in these two (2) reports will pass on the full subsidy to the consumers.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the Ninth Report of the Committee entitled "Report 4, Information Technology Shared Services, of the 2015 Fall Reports of the Auditor General of Canada", the Committee consider, in the fall of 2017, what actions are to be taken.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the 13th Report of the Committee entitled "Report 6, Canada Pension Plan Disability Program, of the 2015 Fall Reports of the Auditor General of Canada", the Committee write to the Department of Employment and Social Development requesting a status report on the progress of the efforts at expediting the application process (Recommendation 2) and a report detailing how the Department has used the lessons learned from its analysis of the triage review and if the average time to receive the benefit has actually been reduced (Recommendation 9).

It was agreed, — That the Department of Citizenship and Immigration be invited to appear before the Committee in the fall of 2017 to provide answers regarding the recommendations made by the Committee in its 15th Report entitled "Report 2, Detecting and Preventing Fraud in the Citizenship Program, of the 2016 Spring Reports of the Auditor General of Canada” .

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the 16th Report of the Committee entitled “Report 4, Drug Benefits—Veterans Affairs Canada, of the Spring 2016 Reports of the Auditor General of Canada,” a letter be sent to the Department of Veterans Affairs asking it to explain why the Department did not conduct or report on the investigation requested by the Committee.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities to suggest that they undertake a study on possible enabling legislation for VIA Rail Canada Inc. regarding governance, financing and long-term planning, as recommended in the 2016 Special Examination report of the Auditor General on VIA Rail Canada Inc. as well as in the 17th Report of the Committee entitled "Via Rail Canada Inc., Special Examination Report of the Spring 2016 Reports of the Auditor General of Canada".

At 5:09 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
