Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, the Committee resumed its review of changes to the Fisheries Act.

Otto Langer and Linda Nowlan made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Mel Arnold moved, — That the Committee request from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans all input received from their online public consultation related to the Fisheries Act Review to date; that this public input be provided to the Committee within seven days of the passing of this motion; and that all input received for this consultation in future be also provided to the Committee within seven days of receipt by the Department.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Amendment

Bernadette Jordan moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “7 days” with the words “14 days”.

Debate arose thereon.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Bernadette Jordan and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 3.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the Committee request from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans all input received from the online public consultation related to the Fisheries Act Review to date; that this public input be provided to the committee within 14 days of the passing of this motion; and that all input received for this consultation in future be also provided to the Committee within 14 days of receipt by the department.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 0.
