Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of debt in the agriculture sector and its effects.

Michèle Lalancette, Portia MacDonald-Dewhirst, Mark Wales and Ryan Beierbach made statements and, with Philippe Pagé, answered questions.

At 12:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:43 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $13,300.00, for the study on the amendments to the Health of Animals Regulations (Humane Transportation), be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study on Canada-United States Cooperation in Agriculture, the Committee be authorized to purchase up to $300 in gifts to be presented to foreign hosts during its trip to Washington, D.C., in the Spring of 2017.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study on Canada-United States Cooperation in Agriculture, the Committee defray the hospitality expenses related to working meals to be held during its travel to Washington, D.C. in the Spring of 2017.

At 12:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
