The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Chris Warkentin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dennis Bevington, Ray Boughen, Rob Clarke, Jonathan Genest-Jourdain, Blake Richards, Greg Rickford, Kyle Seeback, Chris Warkentin and David Wilks.

 

Acting Members present: Andrew Cash for Jean Crowder, Claude Gravelle for Carol Hughes and Scott Simms for Hon. Carolyn Bennett.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tonina Simeone, Analyst; Norah Kielland, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: First Nations Financial Management Board: Harold Calla, Chairman; Shayla Point, Senior Manager, Legal and Corporate Services. Membertou First Nation: John G. Paul, Member. Norway House Cree Nation: Clarence Paupanekis, Councillor; Caterina Ferlaino, External Resource Developer. Sawridge First Nation: Roland Twinn, Chief; Michael McKinney, Excutive Director.

 
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Thursday, June 21, 2012 and the motion agreed by the Committee on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-27, An Act to enhance the financial accountability and transparency of First Nations.
 

Harold Calla, John G. Paul, Clarence Paupanekis and Roland Twinn, made statements and with Shayla Point answered questions.

 

At 5:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
