The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 8:33 a.m. this day, in the Ballroom A, Delta Bessborough, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: André Bellavance, Hon. Wayne Easter, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, Larry Miller and Francis Valeriote.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst.

Witnesses: University of Saskatchewan: Mary Buhr, Dean, College of Agriculture and Bioresources; Jill Hobbs, Professor and Department Head, Department of Bioresource Policy, Business and Economics; William A. Kerr, Professor, Department of Bioresource Policy, Business and Economics; Andrew Potter, Director, Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre; Bert Vandenberg, Professor; Mark Wartman, Development Officer, College of Agriculture and Bioresources. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the biotechnology industry.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 9:10 a.m., André Bellavance took the Chair.

At 9:15 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:16 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 9:16 a.m., Larry Miller took the Chair.

At 10:30 a.m., André Bellavance took the Chair.
