The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, the Hon. Mark Eyking, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Alex Atamanenko, André Bellavance, France Bonsant, Hon. Wayne Easter, Hon. Mark Eyking, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, Larry Miller, Blake Richards, Bev Shipley, Brian Storseth and Francis Valeriote.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Geoff Regan for Francis Valeriote.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Humphrey Banack, Director; Allen Oberg, Member, National Council. Pulse Canada: Gordon Bacon, Chief Executive Officer; Greg Cherewyk, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of railway costing review.
 

At 8:50 a.m., Larry Miller took the Chair.

 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:20 a.m., Mark Eyking took the Chair.

 

At 10:23 a.m., Larry Miller took the Chair.

 

At 10:38 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:40 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee’s travel on its study of the Biotechnology Industry be planned for the week of February 7, 2011.

 

At 10:53 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
