The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Paul Calandra, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Derek Lee, Pat Martin, Jean-Yves Roy and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Lois Brown for Patrick Brown, Judy Foote for Hon. Dan McTeague and Colin Mayes for Jacques Gourde.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Public Works and Government Services: Liliane saint pierre, Assistant Deputy Minister, Acquisitions Branch; Shereen Miller, Director General, Small and Medium Enterprises Sector, Acquisitions Branch. Department of Industry: John Connell, Director General, Small Business Policy Branch; Denis Martel, Director, Research and Analysis, Small Business Policy Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) and the motions adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 5 and Tuesday February 10, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the federal government's procurement processes.
 

Liliane saint pierre and John Connell made a statement and, with Shereen Miller and Denis Martel, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Jean-Yves Roy, it was agreed, — That the Government's answer to Order Paper Question Q-70, presented to the House on Monday, April 20, 2009 (Sessional Paper No. 8555-402-70), be appended to today’s Evidence.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday April 30, 2009 the Committee commenced its study of the federal employee compensation delivery system.
 

On motion of Chris Warkentin, it was agreed, — That the Third Report of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates from the 39th Parliament, 2nd Session entitled “The Right Pay for Valuable Employees”, be adopted as a Report of the Committee in the current session of Parliament, that the Chair be authorized to table the report in the House, and that a government response be requested.

 

At 1:11 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
