The Standing Committee on Transport met at 3:42 p.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Roger Gallaway, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dave Batters, Bev Desjarlais, Hon. Roger Gallaway, Jim Gouk, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Francis Scarpaleggia, Andrew Scheer and Caroline St-Hilaire.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Transport: John Forster, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security Group; Gerard A. McDonald, Director General, Marine Safety; Victor M. Santos-Pedro, Director, Design, Equipment and Boating Safety.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing session on Transport Canada Small Vessel Monitoring and Inspection Program.
 

John Forster made a statement and, with Gerard A. McDonald, answered questions.

 

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:42 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, the tapes used during the Air Liberalization Hearings while travelling, be transcribed and the transcripts be made available to all Members of the Committee, and that all the cost incurred by the clerk be reimbursed out of the operational budget of the Committee.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the expense of the working meal held in Calgary be paid from the operational budget of the Committee pursuant to a motion agreed to, on October 20, 2004.

 

At 4:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
