Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Saada (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) for Ms. Robillard (Minister of Industry) , seconded by Mr. Mitchell (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development) , Bill C-9, An Act to amend the Patent Act and the Food and Drugs Act, was introduced, read the first time and ordered to be printed.

Pursuant to Order made Tuesday, February 10, 2004, the Bill (previously Bill C-56, 2nd Session, 37th Parliament) was deemed read the second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology.

Recommendation
(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))

Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to amend the Patent Act and the Food and Drugs Act”.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Cotler (Minister of Justice) , seconded by Mr. Mitchell (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development) , Bill C-10, An Act to amend the Contraventions Act and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, was introduced, read the first time and ordered to be printed.

Pursuant to Order made Tuesday, February 10, 2004, the Bill (previously Bill C-38, 2nd Session, 37th Parliament) was deemed referred to a committee before second reading, considered in committee and reported.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Mitchell (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development) , seconded by Mr. Saada (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) , Bill C-11, An Act to give effect to the Westbank First Nation Self-Government Agreement, was introduced, read the first time and ordered to be printed.

Pursuant to Order made Tuesday, February 10, 2004, the Bill (previously Bill C-57, 2nd Session, 37th Parliament) was deemed read the second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources.
