Bill C-291, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make consequential amendments to other Acts (child sexual abuse material)
In accordance with its Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 23, 2022, your committee has considered Bill C-291, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make consequential amendments to other Acts (child sexual abuse material), and agreed on Monday, December 5, 2022, to report it with the following amendments:
Clause 1
That Bill C-291, in Clause 1, be amended by

Transitional Provision

13 The amendments made by this Act do not affect the validity of any proceedings, brought under the Criminal Code or any other Act of Parliament, that are related to section 163.1 of the Criminal Code and are ongoing on the day on which this Act comes into force. The amendments do not affect the validity of any document related to those proceedings and any reference to “child pornography” in such a document is to be read as a reference to “child sexual abuse and exploitation material”.

Coming into Force

13 This Act comes into force on the first anniversary of the day on which it receives royal assent.

That Bill C-291 be amended by replacing the long title on page 1 with the following:

Your committee has ordered a reprint of Bill C-291, as amended, as a working copy for the use of the House of Commons at the report stage.
