M-63 United Nations Convention on the Rights of Older People

Motion Text

That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) take a leadership role in establishing a United Nations Convention on the Rights of Older People; and (b) work to include important provisions in the Convention, such as (i) equality and non-discrimination for reasons of age, (ii) the right to housing, (iii) the right to a healthy environment, (iv) the right to safety and a life free to violence of any kind, (v) the right to participation and community integration, (vi) the right to health, (vii) the right to accessibility and personal mobility, (viii) the right to special measures in situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies.
