Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, October 8, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Caroline Maynard made a statement and answered questions.

Motion

Kelly McCauley moved, — That in light of testimony heard in relation to the committee's study on the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the committee retable the 9th report of the committee in the 1st Session of the 42nd Parliament, entitled “Strengthening the Protection of the Public Interest within the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act” and call on the government to immediately implement, or undertake to implement, the report's recommendations, and that the President of the Treasury Board appear to provide an update on progress since the initial tabling of the report.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

Questioning of the witness resumed.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee undertake a study of the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2020-21, and invite the President of the Treasury Board, the Minister of Public Services and Procurement Canada and the Minister of Digital Government to appear.

It was agreed, — That the committee undertake a study of the Departmental Results Reports for the period ended March 31, 2020.

At 7:42 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
