Pursuant to the order of reference of Thursday, March 25, 2021, and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, the committee resumed its study of addressing sexual misconduct issues in the Canadian Armed Forces, including the allegations against former Chief of the Defence Staff Jonathan Vance.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of addressing sexual misconduct issues in the Canadian Armed Forces, including the allegations against former Chief of the Defence Staff Jonathan Vance, the committee invite the Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of National Defence to appear.

At 11:11 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:22 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 12:58 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 2:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:38 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a), an order of the committee is issued for an unredacted copy of the submission, bearing the signatures of any Ministers who authorized it to be presented to the Governor-in-Council, of Order-in-Council 2019-0496, as well as the record of decision listing the names of the Ministers who approved it; and if the committee is notified by the Clerk of the Privy Council that either the submission or the record of decision for Order-in-Council 2019-0496 cannot be made available to committee for any reason, an order of the committee is issued for any ancillary and associated records pertaining to Order-in-Council 2019-0496 which may demonstrate, describe, or otherwise detail the Ministers whose signatures were present on the original submission, and those that approved the Order; and that, the documents referenced above be filed with the Clerk of the committee not later than seven days after the adoption of this motion.
