Pursuant to the order of reference of Thursday, October 29, 2020, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-7, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (medical assistance in dying).

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That two and a half minutes be given to the representative of the Green Party to question the witnesses, before the conclusion of the first round of questions for each panel today.

Jennifer Gibson, Alain Naud, André Rochon and David E. Roberge made statements and answered questions.

At 12:17 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Michael Villeneuve, Anne Boyle, Harvey Max Chochinov, Bonnie Brayton and Catherine Ferrier made statements and answered questions.

It was agreed, — That the committee sit beyond 1:00 p.m. to complete another round of questions.

Motion

Chris Lewis moved, — That, notwithstanding any decision taken previously, the committee hold an additional hearing on Bill C-7.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

NAYS: Randall Garrison, Mike Kelloway, James Maloney, Ramesh Sangha, Arif Virani, Sameer Zuberi — 6.

Motion

Luc Thériault moved, — That, with respect to the study of Bill C-7 and notwithstanding any decision taken previously, the deadline for submitting the amendments to the clerk be set for Monday, November 16, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
