Pursuant to the order of reference of Thursday, March 25, 2021, and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, November 16, 2020, the committee resumed its study on questions of conflict of interest and lobbying in relation to pandemic spending.

Charlie Angus gave notice of the following motion:

That, in light of the need to get answers in a timely matter regarding the outstanding questions to Victor Li, that the committee request that a doctor’s note be supplied regarding the limits of Victor Li to respond to issues that are under his area of expertise.

Motion

Rhéal Éloi Fortin moved, — That, pursuant to the motion adopted by the House of Commons on Thursday, March 25, 2021:

  1. The committee met on Monday, March 29, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. to hear from witness Rick Theis;
  2. The committee noted the absence of witness Rick Theis, who had been summoned before the Committee under the order included in the motion adopted by the House on Thursday, March 25, 2021;
  3. The committee confirmed that it did not release said witness from his obligation to appear before it;
  4. The committee further noted the absence of the Prime Minister, who was given the opportunity to appear in place of the witness by the motion of Thursday, March 25, 2021.

Debate arose thereon.

At 2:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 2:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:39 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the debate be now adjourned.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study on questions of conflict of interest and lobbying in relation to pandemic spending, the committee invite the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, P.C., M.P., to appear.

The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez made a statement and answered questions.

At 3:50 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:55 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 5:03 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
