Pursuant to the orders of reference of Saturday, April 11, 2020, and Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bill Matthews made a statement and, with Stéphane Dévy, Arianne Reza, and Michael Vandergriff, answered questions.

Motion

Kelly McCauley moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), officials from the Communications Security Establishment and the Department of Public Services and Procurement provide the committee with a briefing on the Nuctech security equipment contract; that the relevant departments provide all documents, memorandums, and briefing materials related to the Nuctech security equipment contract, and that the meeting be held no later than Monday, August 31, 2020.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was moved: — That the Chair be authorized to set the schedule for the committee’s meetings during the month of August.
