Jeff Blackmer, Alistair Bursey, Réjean Leclerc and Chris Coleman made statements and, with Lee Lax and Philip Emberley, answered questions.
At 10:21 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 10:28 a.m., the sitting resumed.
Len Webber moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee call upon His Excellency Mr. Zhaohui LUO, Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China to appear before this Committee to provide evidence as to the measures being taken by his Government to address the manufacture, distribution and sale of illicit opioids into Canada.
John Oliver moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 4.
At 10:30 a.m., the sitting continued in camera.
It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the Opioid Crisis in Canada, the Committee hold one further meeting on October 25, 2016, and that the Committee report its findings to the House.
At 10:54 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
