Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, October 18, 2016, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-16, An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code.

The Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould made a statement and, with William F. Pentney, answered questions.

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:27 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $3,500, for the study of Bill C-247, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (passive detection device), be adopted.

It was agreed, — The the Committee proceed to the clause-by-clause of Bill C-16, An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code, on Thursday, November 3, 2016.

At 12:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
