Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Vice-Chair.

On motion of Matt Jeneroux, it was agreed, — That Maxime Bernier be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

At 11:06 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:07 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, June 14, 2017, the Committee undertake the statutory review of An Act to promote the efficiency and adaptability of the Canadian economy by regulating certain activities that discourage reliance on electronic means of carrying out commercial activities, and to amend the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Act, the Competition Act, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and the Telecommunications Act.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of intellectual property and technology transfer, the meeting of Thursday, September 21, 2017, be dedicated to the consideration of the draft report.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the statutory review of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, the meeting of Tuesday, September 26, 2017, be dedicated to hearing officials from the Department of Industry, the Canadian Radio-television and Communications Commission and the Competition Bureau; and that the meeting be divided into two (2) one-hour panels.

At 11:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
