Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, December 13, 2017, and section 92 of the Copyright Act, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.

Dan Albas gave notice of the following motion:

That, to assist in the review of the Copyright Act, the Committee request Ministers Freeland and Bains, alongside officials, to come before the Committee and explain the impacts of the United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) on the intellectual property and copyright regimes in Canada.

Ann Mainville-Neeson, Hélène Messier, Marie-Christine Beaudry, Marie-Josée Dupré, by videoconference from Montreal, Quebec, Gabriel Pelletier and Mylène Cyr made statements and, with Antoine Malek, answered questions.

At 5:23 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
