Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, October 17, 2017, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-55, An Act to amend the Oceans Act and the Canada Petroleum Resources Act.

Kevin Stringer and Jeff MacDonald answered questions.

At 9:55 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:59 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

At 10:03 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:06 a.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That, due to the overlapping nature of the Committee’s current study on Marine Protected Areas and the Committee’s decision to utilize its evidence in the consideration of Bill C-55, An Act to amend the Oceans act and the Canada Petroleum Resources Act, the Committee dedicate no more than five meetings to witness testimony during its consideration of Bill C-55, and that all amendments be submitted to the Clerk of the Committee by Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 5:00 p.m., and that the beginning of the clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill be no later than Tuesday, December 5, 2017.

It was agreed, — That, on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, the Committee invite Senior Officials from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in relation to the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2017-18 for the first hour, and that the Committee hear witnesses in relation to the consideration of Bill C-55 for the second hour.

At 10:43 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
