Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, March 22, 2016 and section 343 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 25, 2016, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.

Melody Lepine, Phil Thomas, Lynne Groulx and Gabriel Miller made statements and, with Sara Trotta and Verna McGregor, answered questions.

At 5:17 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:20 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee defray the hospitality expenses related to a meeting with a delegation from the Northwest Territories on Monday, November 21, 2016 to a maximum of $1,200.

It was agreed, — That the Sixth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

1. That the meeting with the Hon. Robert McLeod, Premier of the Northwest Territories be held over dinner.

2. That the Committee meet on the Review of The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 on the following dates: November 17, November 22, November 24, November 29 and December 1, 2016; and that the committee organise its meetings into the following witness themes to the best extent possible: First Nations, Industry, Academia, Enforcement, Monitoring.

At 5:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
