Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 25, 2016, the Committee resumed its study on family reunification.

Rupaleem Bhuyan and Ma Lean Andrea Gerente, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, and Amit Harohalli made statements and answered questions.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Richard Kurland, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, and Sheila Monteiro made statements and answered questions.

At 5:17 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:19 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the seventh report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in as amended:

1. That the study on Family Reunification be modified as follows: November 1, 2016 and November 3, 2016 be held as scheduled, November 15, 2016, be reserved for the testimony of overseas missions, and November 22, 2016, be reserved for one (1) hour of follow up testimony from departmental officials regarding the study on Family Reunification, and one (1) hour of in camera testimony from departmental officials from Global Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence regarding their trip to Iraq; and that drafting instructions to the analysts for the Family Reunification study take place at the next available opportunity.

2. That the Chair may schedule the meeting of November 15, 2016, outside of the Committee’s timeslot in order to accommodate the time difference of overseas witnesses.

3. That the meeting for the study on Resettling Yazidi Girls and Women agreed to on October 27, 2016, be held on November 17, 2016.

4. That the Chair may schedule the meeting of November 17, 2016, outside of the Committee’s timeslot in order to accommodate the time difference of overseas witnesses.

5. That during the meeting of November 17, 2016, the Committee hear from departmental officials from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada regarding their trip to Iraq in camera first, followed by a public appearance from German officials on the Special Quota Project.

6. That the Committee invite the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to appear at one (1) meeting on the Immigration Levels Plan and one (1) meeting on the Supplementary Estimates, if applicable.

7. That the next area of study by the Committee be Modernization of Client Service Delivery, as per the motion agreed to on October 4, 2016.

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
