Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, the Committee resumed its study on the federal government’s initiative to resettle Syrian refugees to Canada.

Joy Bowen-Eyre, Jeannie Everett, Anne-Marie Hagel and Cheryl Low, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, Louise Clayton and Zaiba Beg, by videoconference from Oakville, Ontario, Immadeddin Sawaf and Eman Allhalaq made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Michelle Rempel moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee study options for Canada to expedite bringing Yezidi girls from Syria and Iraq to Canada as refugees; that this study be comprised of no less than two (2) meetings to be held prior to October 1, 2016; that departmental officials be in attendance for at least two (2) meetings, that the Committee report its findings to the House; and that Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the government table a comprehensive response thereto.

In the absence of 48 hours' notice, as required by the routine motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, the Chair ruled the motion irrecevable.

At 12:33 p.m., Jenny Kwan took the Chair.

At 12:36 p.m., Bruce Wrzesnewskyj took the Chair.

At 12:52 p.m., Jenny Kwan took the Chair.

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
