Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 1, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of migration challenges and opportunities for Canada in the 21st century.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the routine motion governing staff attending in camera proceedings, adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, parliamentary interns attend the in camera meeting.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of Migration Challenges and Opportunities for Canada in the 21st Century, the Committee invite the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to appear before the Committee, for a two-hour meeting, to update the Committee on the emerging issues in Latin America.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of Migration Challenges and Opportunities for Canada in the 21st Century, the Committee invite further witnesses to appear before the Committee to discuss labour demand and supply, including temporary foreign workers, and also invite representatives from Employment and Social Development Canada and Statistics Canada to discuss the skills gap.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the additional meetings for the study of Migration Challenges and Opportunities for Canada in the 21st Century, members submit their lists of prioritized witnesses to the Clerk of the Committee no later than Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and the Minister of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction be invited to appear before the Committee in relation to the study of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2018-19.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $37,650.00, for the study of Settlement Services Across Canada, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the analysts and the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a custom descriptive paragraph for its study of Settlement Services Across Canada and publish it on the Committee’s website.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of Settlement Services Across Canada, the Committee accept requests to appear.

At 3:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
