Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 11, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of progressive Canadian enterprises and SMEs through electronic commerce.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite both Mitch Garber and Ian McKay to appear in order to discuss the creation of the new investment agency of Global Affairs Canada, Invest in Canada, and their new roles as Chairperson of the Board and Chief Executive Officer respectively.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Orders 110 and 111, the Committee invite Martine M. Irman to appear in order to consider her nomination by Order in Council in the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Export Development Canada, referred to the Committee on Friday, February 2, 2018.

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a study of Canada’s priorities for the negotiations of the MERCOSUR trade agreement between Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, and that the Minister of International Trade be invited to appear, as well as industry, civil society and labour groups; that the study consist of at least four meetings; and that the Committee report its findings to the House.

At 10:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
