The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Pierre Nantel moved, — That the Committee invite the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to appear before the Committee within 45 days to discuss the efforts of the Corporation, by virtue of its mandate, to ensure the representation of First Nations, Inuit and Métis, and of francophones, and concerning the Corporation's activities in the context of the 150th anniversary of Canada.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Seamus O'Regan moved, — That the motion be amended by deleting the words “within 45 days”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Seamus O'Regan and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 4.

After debate, the question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 0.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the Committee invite the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to appear before the Committee to discuss the efforts of the Corporation, by virtue of its mandate, to ensure the representation of First Nations, Inuit and Métis, and of francophones, and concerning the Corporation's activities in the context of the 150th anniversary of Canada.

At 9:11 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:14 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the media and local communities.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the Committee do now adjourn.

At 10:56 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
