Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, the Committee commenced its study of A Food Policy for Canada.

Beth MacNeil made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:16 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Questioning of the witness resumed.

At 12:29 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That a letter requesting a response to the letter of June 9, 2016, be sent to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development with a copy to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

It was agreed, — That six meetings with witnesses be allotted for the study of a Food Policy for Canada and that these meetings be comprised of two panels of one hour during which three witnesses can make an opening statement of up to seven minutes.

It was agreed, — That proposed witness lists for the study of a Food Policy for Canada be submitted electronically to the Clerk before Friday, June 30, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

It was agreed, — That the letters sent by the Committee, as well as the answers received for the Briefing on the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED) Situation in Canada and the study of Canada’s Preferential Status under the United States Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA), be published on the Committee website.

At 12:47 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
