The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met in a televised session at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Ed Komarnicki, Hoang Mai, David J. McGuinty, Larry Miller, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet, Jeff Watson and Wai Young.

Acting Members present: Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet for Olivia Chow.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Zachary Alaoui, Analyst ; Allison Padova, Analyst.

Appearing: Hon. Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport.

Witnesses: Department of Transport: Helena Borges, Associate Deputy Minister; André Lapointe, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Services; Louis Lévesque, Deputy Minister.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2014-15: Vote 1 under CANADA POST CORPORATION, Vote 1 under CANADIAN AIR TRANSPORT SECURITY AUTHORITY, Vote 1 under CANADIAN TRANSPORTATION AGENCY, Vote 1 under MARINE ATLANTIC INC., Votes 1 and 5 under NATIONAL CAPITAL COMMISSION, Votes 1 and 5 under OFFICE OF INFRASTRUCTURE OF CANADA, Vote 1 under THE FEDERAL BRIDGES CORPORATION LIMITED, Vote 1 under THE JACQUES-CARTIER AND CHAMPLAIN BRIDGES INC., Votes 1, 5 and 10 under TRANSPORT, Vote 1 under TRANSPORTATION APPEAL TRIBUNAL OF CANADA, Vote 1 under VIA RAIL CANADA INC., referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

The Chair called Vote 1 under CANADA POST CORPORATION.

The Hon. Lisa Raitt made a statement and, with Louis Lévesque and Helena Borges, answered questions.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:52 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $5,750, for the study of Bill C-3, An Act to enact the Aviation Industry Indemnity Act, to amend the Aeronautics Act, the Canada Marine Act, the Marine Liability Act and the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be adopted.

At 9:54 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
