Meeting No. 26

Monday, May 12, 2014

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Christopherson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Malcolm Allen, Jay Aspin, John Carmichael, David Christopherson, Ted Falk, Alain Giguère, Bryan Hayes and Stephen Woodworth.

Acting Members present: Hon. John McKay for Yvonne Jones.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Daniel Benatuil, Analyst ; Alex Smith, Analyst.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee undertake studies of the following chapters of the Spring 2014 Report of the Auditor General of Canada, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in the following order:

• Chapter 1, Public Sector Pension Plans

• Chapter 8, Meeting Needs for Key Statistical Data — Statistics Canada

• Chapter 3, Aggressive Tax Planning

• Chapter 6, Transfer Payments Programs — Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency.

It was agreed, — That the Committee plan its upcoming meetings as follows:

• Monday, May 26, 2014, consideration of a draft report in relation to the study of Chapter 7, Oversight of Rail Safety — Transport Canada, of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada;

• Wednesday, May 28, 2014, public hearing on Chapter 1, Public Sector Pension Plans, of the Spring 2014 Report of the Auditor General of Canada;

• Monday, June 2, 2014, consideration of a draft report in relation to the study of Chapter 8, Disaster Relief for Producers — Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada;

• Wednesday, June 4, 2014, public hearing on Chapter 8, Meeting Needs for Key Statistical Data — Statistics Canada, of the Spring 2014 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

At 3:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
